IBM has announced new software, IBM Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files, which continuously protects information on file servers, desktop PCs and laptops, from accidental deletion, file corruption and viruses. The new software works like a "data safety net", which delivers real-time back up for data stored as presentations, digital photos, spreadsheets, MP3 files and Word documents. Traditional working environments have system administrators to handle periodic data back up, but people who are essentially on-the-move do not have such options. Data is thus protected from viruses, file corruption, alteration and deletion.
