The D.C. shooting has put new scrutiny on what were once bipartisan efforts to resettle Afghan nationals who served alongside U.S. troops.

The president didn't specify how many troops would be involved or exactly when they would arrive, other than to say it would happen "in a couple of weeks."

The remarks come as ICE plans an operation in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area this week, a senior law enforcement official said.

President Nicolás Maduro's government announced the twice-weekly flights will go on following a request from the Trump administration.

Such arrests began Nov. 12, multiple immigration attorneys say, many adding they had never seen anything like it before.

Asked whether she defied a court's order, Noem criticized "activist judges."
